Best Compliment of My Life

Sunday night, November 13th, 2011.
I was putting Liam to sleep.

As I kissed him goodnight, I said "Goodnight my sweet little boy."  And he replied, "Goodnight my cool inventive Daddy!"
It knocked my socks off.  I asked him about it, and he really meant it, and knew what he was saying.  I had to debrief with Katie afterwards to make sure that she hadn't somehow planted the idea.  But she didn't.  It was genuine, and it was the best complement I've ever had.  And interestingly, although the first two descriptors are excellent, it is their combination with the title "Daddy" that makes the whole thing so wonderful.

Khanga outfits!

Our dear friend Modesta sent some beautiful outfits to our family.  They were tailored (perfectly to size) for Liam and Amani (Reid).  Asante sana, Modesta.  Tunakushukuru sana!

Halloween--just another dress-up day

Liam has a definite sense of style. Here's a sample of the outifts he's worn to school in the last few weeks:

Reid is definitely developing his own look:
(granted, the paint application wasn't entirely intentional)

(thanks to Uncle Bri for the Tin Man suit)

So, these are the Halloween get-ups: Liam wanted to be the character Stitch from a movie, and Reid didn't have an explicit opinion, but we figured if he did he'd want to be a doggy):

You Can't Get Theyah

A few weekends ago we visited Baxter State Park, up the road a bit.  Before we left we inquired as to directions, and surprisingly Google obeyed local customs and told us:
this reminded me of a certain set of Maine directions of yore, which I learned from Bert and I.  Essentially Google was telling me: "You can't get theyah from here."
I figure it was because the route from Orono to Baxter (which Google calls 64 Blasom Dr, Millinocket, ME, 04462-2190), takes you, well, through Millinocket, and along the same road to Millinocket that you would have to take if you were coming from East Vassalboro.
