House Tour!

For those of you whom we haven't had a chance to host here yet, here's the new digs:

The kitchen comes with two small sous chefs. They are passionate about chopping.

The sink is big enough for sink tubbies.

Chef Reid--some would be surprised to learn that he is naked from the waist down in this photo (some would be less surprised).

On the other side of the kitchen is our dining space and Christmas corner. The little people have been enthusiastic seasonal decorators.

This is the main living space.  We love the soapstone wood stove. We've decide this is our "India" room, so we'll aim to have most of our Indian art in here.
The sunken living room is just below the space you saw in the last shot--that's working toward being our "Tanzania" room.
There's a loft above the main living space--we'll take you up the stairs in a minute.

Reid and Liam's rooms are on the first floor, just off the main living space. The bright yellow paint and bamboo floor were the two big changes we made before moving in.

Book reading is as popular as ever.

Liam lucked out with the book shelves.

As you can see, Liam is a busy, busy guy. The table in this shot is covered in just a few of his building supplies, many of which he scavenges from trash bins or parking lots when we're out and about--today's find was a broken plastic knife.

Our yali (believe by Liam and Reid to guard the house from monsters) presides over the seldom-used front door (it's a tradition here in Maine not to use the front door). We'll head upstairs for the next shot.

Here's the loft--currently a project space with the sewing machine set up.  Pardon the lack of pants on your tour guide--Reid's familiarizing himself with potties.

Our bedroom on the second floor--bigger than it needs to be, but oh well. There is good clothes storage space.
And washing happens at the end of our bedroom in this small laundry room. There isn't a basement.

On the other side of the loft, we're lucky enough to have a guest bedroom--come visit. This room will likely get the next change in paint.

And last but not least, on the first floor at the front of the house, feeding into the kitchen, is a sun room.  We use it as an office, yoga room and mudroom.

The sun room has great windows and radiant heat.
Our abundant winter apparel.

Our handsome daddy!  He's in the screened-in porch, which is off the sunken living room. This space is great for stacking wood in the winter and avoiding black flies in the spring.

Liam in our Christmas corner.

And me and Leems out on the deck.

  2. Nice windows! The house looks perfect for your family Katie. Great job on the floors, they're beautiful and I know the effort they require!
