Stepping time!

Grandpa Topher and grandma Marie visited last weekend. They brought with them some gifts from grandpa Bill Baker, Reid and Liam's late great grandfather. Most notably these included A collapsible cup made of aluminum, and two bowties (clip on) and two lovely well and caps. Reid and Liam especially loved the caps and wore them for a few days straight. They even wore them to school.

We also used them for character performances...

The caps of grandpa Bill

As I put Reid to bed tonight he showed me his three currently favorite items: his cap, his wrist watch, and his collapsible cup. His cup he pointed out this morning, when collapsed, is small enough to fit in his pocket, even without being seen!

The Beehive

On Veterans Day we went on an adventure!
We drove to Acadia, and hike the mountain called the Beehive. It does look like a beehive, although you will not see that in our pictures. A warning sign told us not to hike with children or when wet. It was raining, so we forged ahead:
It was really quite steep.
Thankfully, we have safe children!
And dexterous!
Some of the trail gave me the willies, though:
We split up so that there was one adult hiking with each kid.
finally, the Summit, and a relaxation of my parental stress.
Here Liam is standing on a small mountain island in a try puddle pond on a big mountain on a big island in a very big ocean.
The trails marked with special cairns.

Once again, experience proves: there is no bad time to go to Acadia national Park.

The leaf fortress adventure

Sunday Katie and I collected a massive pile of leaves for the kids to play in. Then we built a small hideout inside the leaf pile. After a few upgrades here's what it looked like:
Liam and Reid begged their daddy to let them sleep in it overnight, and to join them in the process… daddy is crazy, and he agreed.
Here is the inside of the fortress:
And here we are after dinner and toothbrushing and getting ready for bed, all equipped with pajamas and sleeping bags:
Keep in mind I slept in this contraption with the two of them. The kids fell asleep rather nicely:
Somehow the morning eventually arrived:
The next day, I have a headache, but I am a very proud father.
