Summer celebration

This was our last week of summer vacation, and the kids and I took the week off from work and babysitting to play and celebrate.

Monday: bike ride to Roger's Farm

Tuesday: bus trip to Bangor and an attempted breakfast at the Friars Bakehouse. The Friars are flexible with their hours and didn't bother to open that morning. We headed next door for bagels and subsequent pigeon chasing.
Wednesday: hike up misty Great Pond Mountain and a swim in Alamoosook Lake.
Thursday: costume making. Reid wanted a police hat and billy club, but mostly he wanted to get down to the business of pretend play. Liam and I worked away on a knight helmet.
Friday: biking the carriage roads in Acadia--Ampitheater and Hadlock Loops. The kids did 9.1 miles in 2 hours and were great sports even when poor Liam fell and got some bad road rash.
Such a privilege to play with our kiddos!

El pueblo des hadas - The Fairy Village

We are teaching ourselves Spanish this summer. Likely many bad habits and poor accents are being formed, but we are having fun and making good progress. We have enjoyed this television series produced by Georgia Public Radio, Salsa. Today we made fairy houses and tried to talk in Spanish.
