Reid just got bumped up to a "gear" bike--6 speed--and Liam picked up a new-to-us 21 speed bike at the awesome Orono bike swap. This means everyone has their own set of independent commuter wheels. Reid's newfound enthusiasm for biking is wonderful, but gone are the days of the trailer bike and the lovely little voice that provided commentary right behind me as we pedaled around town: "Don't forget, Mommy – left leg up!" as we came barreling around the corner onto Winterhaven Drive; or "Wait up for Lemur, Mommy." In short, a little bit bitter, mostly sweet. Our baby is decidedly less baby these days.
