Free Flowing: the Penobscot River Restoration

This new Penobscot River Restoration video features our neighbors the Owen family, especially Bucky Owen. It is wonderfully produced, with gorgeous footage, and even has a quick glimpse of Katie and Reid on the river bank. It is so nice to see such a reverence for natural features.

Findus Makes Pancakes

We've been reading and enjoying Sven Nordquist's books, especially Findus and The Fox. This weekend we used the recipes from the book below to make Findus pancakes.

And Liam's first real letter: "Dear Paul, This is you in your f14. From Liam." Paul is Liam's teacher's husband who once flew for the Navy. Planes are a definite obsession right now.

Portland trip!!

We enjoyed a long weekend in Portland. Unfortunately, Tim had to work, but the three of us swam, told joke after joke with our friends Josie and Peggy (first pic below), enjoyed Josie's gifts for sharing music with wee people, played at the Kids' Museum, walked the old city, and ran up and down the hotel hallways in our bathing suits (well, two of us did that).

Joking--Josie and Peggy are Anna Vodicka's mom and sister.

Josie is AMAZING with kids and music

Spokane Winter Visit

I've never been prompt in my blog posts. I'm afraid that vacationing and computers just don't go hand in hand for me. Regardless, we had a wonderful winter visit to Spokane. Here are some memorable moments:

The Quirk/Waring/Vodicka Clan

Snowman destruction

Reid enjoying his own company

Great meals cooked by Sal and O'da with Bri and Anna

Spokane Bulger cousins

Lots of outside play

Sal's energy is always astounding

Sal and O'da at the Troll Bridge

Sledding with Daddy!

Frozen Cannon Hill

My wonderful dad

Baby and Daddy Dragon in their fort

Play time at the kids' museum...

...and other firsts

the Japanese gardens under snow

Kurt and the Captain off to the Sound of Music

Reading Peter Rabbit

And, of course, sword play

Escaped parents--we slipped off to lovely Nelson, BC, for a few days--no kids=lots of smiles.

Ah, the skiing!!!!
